GET THE INSIDER SCOOP ON NASHVILLE YOGA

May 2020

How do you relax after a long week? With the holidays approaching, it’s extra important to find a way to unwind between the stresses of work, holiday planning and travel obligations. That’s why we’ve put together a guide to the best yoga in Nashville — so you can find some inner peace while you navigate the busiest time of year.

The unique thing about Shakti Yoga is that the rooms don’t have mirrors. Instead of focusing on the way you look while you’re posing, you can just focus on getting the pose right and breathing. At Shakti, it really is all about the yoga and nothing else.

Anyone who’s new to Shakti Power Yoga can take advantage of the $5 classes for 30 days deal, which only costs $30. You get to enjoy one of their $5 classes each day for a month, then you can decide if you want to sign on for the full membership. Classes include both hot yoga and regular yoga.

For a more fast-paced yoga experience, check out Inner Light Yoga. The instructors have all the energy in the world, which helps students be motivated to push themselves to their limits. We’re also big fans of the interior decor, which is clean, stylish and modern. All the mats are free to use, too, so you don’t have to carry yours back and forth to class if you don’t want to.

The instructors at Inner Light Yoga focus on letting you be you. Some days they’ll push you with lots of poses, other days they’ll allow you to freestyle or stick with one pose the whole day. This is a great place for people who want personal experiences as well as workout.

At 12 South Yoga, the instructors focus on preventing injuries and paying attention to your body. This Nashville yoga studio is equipped with tons of props that students can use to help them achieve poses they might not otherwise be able to. The instructors are also super knowledgeable, so they’ll let you know what to do if you’re having trouble with a pose or if you’re feeling some pain.

This is the studio to go to if you’re a beginner, or if you’ve had some less-than-awesome experiences with yoga in the past. Yoga doesn’t have to be strenuous, and the instructors at 12 South are there to help you find the poses and movements that work for you.

Consider Kali Yuga Yoga your hipster yoga haven. At just $13 for drop-in classes, prices are low. Plus, the ambiance inside is a far cry from the industrial, clean cut vibe that you see in a lot of other Nashville yoga classes. Kali Yuga Yoga has more of a homey vibe, with drapes over the windows and the smell of incense in the air.

The other thing that sets Kali Yuga Yoga apart from other Nashville studios is the size of the classes. If you go in the morning, you might be in a class with as little as three people. Later in the day, the maximum class size is around 15 people.

Once you’ve tried all the standard yoga classes in town, try moving on to Hot Yoga Plus. This particular studio is located above an IHOP, but don’t let that deter you! The instructors are known for being super creative with their classes, most of which last about an hour.

As you can see, there are plenty of knowledgeable Nashville yoga instructors available for anyone trying to find their new favorite fitness activity. Whether you’re a beginner or a long time yoga student, we think you’ll be able to find a studio that works for you. We’d also love to help you find an apartment that works for you, so feel free to schedule a tour online to check out Vertis Green Hills — a brand new community of luxury apartments in Nashville. Swing by next time you’re in the neighborhood!
